The growth of drone racing could lead to it becoming part of a new official sports league.

In this week’s Swipe, Angela Barnes visits an air show in Brighton to see if FPV (first person view) racing is really taking off in the UK.

At an air show in Brighton, pilots race their quadcopters around a variety of courses, moving at speeds of up to 80mph.

Competitors wear goggles to steer their vehicles based on a live video feed from a camera on the drone’s nose.

Audience members can follow the action from the sidelines – or with a pair of antenna-equipped goggles which enables them to see everything from a drone’s-eye view.
